Abstract

Ceramic materials have been widely used in various industrial applications due to their unique properties such as high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, and mechanical strength. Despite the numerous advantages of ceramic materials, there are still challenges in their widespread adoption for industrial applications. The high cost of production, limited availability of raw materials, and difficulties in processing and shaping ceramic materials are some of the key issues. This systematic review aimed to analyse the trends in ceramic materials and their viability in industrial applications. To conduct the study, a thorough search of academic databases, research articles, and industry reports was carried out. The search criteria included keywords such as "ceramic materials," "industrial applications," "trends," and "viability." Relevant studies published in in recent times were selected for analysis. The data was extracted, synthesized, and analysed to identify the trends in ceramic materials and their potential applications in different industries. The findings revealed that there is a growing interest in the development of advanced ceramic materials with improved properties such as enhanced strength, toughness, and thermal stability. Researchers are exploring new manufacturing techniques such as additive manufacturing and sintering processes to overcome the challenges associated with traditional ceramic processing methods. Based on the findings of this systematic review, it is recommended that more research be conducted to explore the potential applications of ceramic materials in emerging industries such as renewable energy, biotechnology, and defence. Industry stakeholders should invest in R&D to develop cost-effective and sustainable ceramic materials for industrial use. Collaboration between researchers, manufacturers, and end-users is crucial to drive innovation and promote the adoption of ceramic materials in industrial applications
